Church of Ireland Marriage/remarriage 1889
« on: Monday 03 June 19 20:14 BST (UK) »
My grt grandfather Frank Pountney was stationed in the barracks in Dublin (now named Cathal Brugha was Portabello). In 1889 he met and married Kate Parker in Holy Trinity Church (Church of Ireland), Rathmines, Dublin. Strangely they remarried in a Register Office in Gillingham, Kent, England 6 months later. Any ideas why they remarried?

Not sure what Wicklow has to do with it but you've already asked same question here...

The Church of Ireland is the Church of Ireland.... completely different to Church of England.

This sometimes happened when a soldier married without consent. He would need his Commanding Officer's consent to marry, without it his wife would not be eligible to be included on strength, so not entitled to accompany him at the Army’s expense.
