Elizabeth Hawks from Enstone 1790.... Need Help!
« on: Wednesday 05 June 19 15:47 BST (UK) »
Hi, I'm useless at this but I was wondering if any of you are able to guide me to the correct path - my 5th great grandmother was Elizabeth Hawks married to William Howes. I believe she was born in 1790 and possibly died in 1836.... However, I noticed on marriage certificate that she was already widow when she married William Howes in Minster Lovell Oxfordshire and it showed that she was from Enstone... On Marriage certificate he was William House.... Probably spelling error... I tried to look for her maiden name by searching Elizabeth in Enstone 1790 as I don't think Hawks is her maiden name? This didn't really work as I tried to match all the surnames with Hawks so I tried to search via Elizabeth (without surname) married Hawks (without first name) and it is not showing up.... This is where I need your help!

Mary Ann Hawkes of William & Elizabeth Hawkes was baptised on 17 Apr 1812 at Enstone

There's also a death of  19 yo William Hawkes in Oct 1810

EDIT: seen the image now of the baptism (transcribed as Hanks) - no hint that father was deceased and birth date given as Jan 28th so doesn't look like a late baptism either

And then there's a baptism of Elizabeth Wilson at Deddington (smack between Adderbury & Enstone) on 10 Mar 1788 to Robert and Ann

Do you think it could be the first one? Adderbury seems to be about 3 hours walk to Enstone... Just seen Hawkes and Wilson cert... Couldn't read the names on the screen shot attached
