Commonwealth War Graves Commission are looking for relatives of Private Charles Lane - Army Service Corps - R4/063479 - Charled died 8 April 1917 - buried Shrewsbury General Cemetery.
198.5 E

The private memorial marking the grave of Charles Lane no longer provides adequate commemoration.The commission is in the process of producing a headstone to mark his grave.

British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920 for Charles Lane mentions his wife Alice nee Armstrong - the couple were married at Shrewsbury 27 September 1908 - in 1915 they lived at 14 Princes St, Shrewsbury with three children.
Margaret Olive - 1909 Shrewsbury Gweendoline Phyllis 1912 Newcastle Staffs  -  Alice Anne 1914 Newcastle Staffs.

There is a death registered for a Margaret Olive Walker with the same birth date as margaret Olive Lane - 13 march 1909 - died June 1985 Chippenham - aged 76 years - Chippenham Wiltshire.
