Estate File on Family Search Died 1941 in Johannesburg.  Place of birth and DoB and occupation fit.

The link is for the Death Notice, just move through the images to see the rest of the file.  Unfortunately not very easy to see.

Brilliant; Many thanks for the information - so he stayed in SA.  Is it possible to know how and when he actually travelled to SA?
anything and everything to do with the village of Brithdir, near New Tredegar in Gwent.

The only way to check for migration is in the ships leaving the UK indexed on both findmypast and Ancestry. Unfortunately that is only 1890 - 1960 or thereabouts so if he came earlier there are no records online. Next best is to look at arrivals in the newspapers in Cape Town and Durban but again not online and only available in the State Library in SA , also if they came in a cheap class they probably won't be mentioned

Try searching on these shipping records https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search-world-records/passenger-lists-leaving-uk-1890-1960 to see the actual record you will have to pay.
