Hi all,
Firstly sorry for the late reply. Loft conversion, work and other bits of the family (Present and history) have done their best to stop me and i end up missing things .... Hence coming back to here so late. Thanks again to everyone.
Hi, how old does emma say she is in 1871 please
Emma Harris (born Emma Nicholls born 02/02/1838 in Newington, Surrey).
So we are looking as a possible death of Emma between the date of the 1871 census and the 1881 census, I have used the GRO index and come up with these possibles.
HARRIS, EMMA 31
GRO Reference: 1871 J Quarter in SAINT OLAVE SOUTHWARK Volume 01D Page 126
HARRIS, EMMA 36
GRO Reference: 1872 D Quarter in SAINT SAVIOUR SURREY Volume 01D Page 100
These are the only two that could possibly be her if she died before the Deth Cert I have of an Emma Harris.
Igor-Thanks.
Freebmd has a possibility for Emma's death.
Jun 1871 Qtr - St Olave 1d-126. AGE 31
Certainly this looks like the best prospect out of the two.
She's there with William and the children in the 1871. It seems to be between then and the birth of Bessie Harris, with MMN Cameron, in the Apr-Jun qtr of 1875 that something happens.
I found Bessie as you mentioned:
HARRIS, BESSIE CAMERON CAMERON
GRO Reference: 1875 J Quarter in ST SAVIOUR SURREY Volume 01D Page 181
I then did a Freebmd search on William Harris marrying a Sarah and came up with;
Marriages Dec 1879
HARRIS William Henry Lambeth 1d 713
Marriages Sep 1881
Harris William Henry Lambeth 1d 589
Neither match with a William Harris on the marriages. There are other in the area but with wrong names like William John etc. Again none match a Sarah Cameron.
Deaths of two children?
Sep 1871 St Saviour 1d 27

They look very likely. (Althought the link isn't showing anything I think it is down).
Also in 1871, a Sarah Cameron, 28, born Southwark, Collar Worker, boarder in Newington

Definitely worth keeping in mind.
So looks like we haven't got a firm DOD for William (Henry) Harris or Emma Harris or did I miss something.
