From the dates/information that you found....
Obituary for William Herbert in the Globe and Mail newspaper on Oct 3 1989.  He died on Sept 30 1989.  Husband of Joan Beryl.  Father of G J and his wife L, and P M and his wife B.  4 grandchildren are also named.

Reply 50 gives the baptism date - which would fit with a 10 August 1882 birth date.
