I saw that entry, Sandra but because the name was Jean instead of Jane I ignored it shows one has to looked closer. Off to delete the Horton family and restart.

If you look at the 1939 register - you will see her mother living with her.

I believe the wife of John Courtenay died 24 December 1937 - 2 Imperial Road Redland Bristol -
probate 11 February 1938 to joyhn Courtenay licensed victualler.

The 1911 free index shows Marianne Brokenbrow (widow) - Jane is called Jeannie on that record.

Brother Herbert Brokenbrow born 1899 Bristol and aged 28 years was on a Canadian Passenger List - Liverpool to St Johns New Brunswick - 12 December 1927 - Montcalm - going to a friend - Mr John Hestleton - 513 19th Street N N Billerest Calgary Alberta - nearest realtive in country fromj when came was Mrs Mary Ann Brokenbrow 3 Belmont Road. Bristol - occupation telegraphist - intended occupation lumberman.
