It does look to be like John Edward and Charlotte Ann are his parents, I naively assumed that what I had been told growing up was true. I'm quite new to this so I guess it's just a learning curve haha. I found a census listing and a christening record which looks to be a good indication. But I will still get the marriage certificate in a few weeks just to make sure it is!

Yes that’s the best way to go to have some sources back up the information you have found but remember people also lied on certificates so take the information at face value.
