Mary Ann Lyell Milne
« on: Friday 21 June 19 03:13 BST (UK) »
Mary was born 1874 Newburgh Fife to John Milne and Joanna Roberston last known address was in 1891
Name:   Mary Ann Milne
Age:   16
Estimated birth year:   abt 1875

Father's Name:   John Milne
Mother's name:   Joanna R Milne
Gender:   Female
Where born:   Newburgh, Fifeshire
Registration Number:   646/3

Household schedule number:   144

Having a real hard time finding any marriage or what happened to her after this date.  There seems to be a marriage to a Edward Mccallum in 1894 Glasgow, however the census has this Mary Ann being born in Kilwinning, Ayrshire in 1866. So not her.

Sorry didn't know where to actually post as the family seem to of moved to Lanarkshire for a few years then back to Perthshire, as John her father worked as a shipswright.

Have you viewed the marriage  for Mary to Edward McCallum ?
Is the census record you found for Mary McCallum saying she was born 1866 Kilwinning
Address 26,Arthur Street Anderson Glasgow this Mary's husband is William McCallum

I see on the 1901 census for Mary's parent's they have 2 Granddaughters with them
Janet McCallum age 6 born Glasgow
Jane McCallum age 1

There is a birth for a Jane R Milne McCallum 1899 Partick which could possibly be her daughter going by the names

Have you looked at the original of the 1891 census? There are some differences between the transcription you have looked at, and another to which I have access, so you must check the original to make sure that you have correct details.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Again, there are differences between Rosie's transcription the other one I have access to, so you must view the original of that 1901 census to ensure you have the correct details.

Thank You so much Rosie.  I was getting in a twist with it all.  I can only see what is available on FindMyPast so not the or original transcript from S.P.

26,Arthur Street Anderson Glasgow was the census results I had, so that isn't them? It is the other one  8,Summerfield Cottage Partick Govan which makes better sense.

Yes the name Murray will come into the naming pattern so bingo we have a match with their son John born 1906 ;D

Thanks for the little nudge in the right direction.

What you get on SP is not a transcript. It is an image of the actual original handwritten document.

Hi Suzy the 1901 census in Govan I would say is your Mary the birth place and year Is more like it
Note not the original from SP  .....They have a son there Hector I checked for a birth on S P and a Hector Gardner  McCallum born 1897 in Patrick ....There is a Hector G McCallum in the 1911 index I posted ....If you don't have the marriage certificate I would suggest you should buy some credits and get a copy to make sure you have the right people ..The marriage certificate will give you the names of Mary's parent's ...All the births of their children can also be checked out on Scotland's People to make sure you have the correct family ..
