1st Sgt WWII or ??
« on: Monday 01 July 19 17:55 BST (UK) »
The family this image came from lived in Texas. This image has no name or identity. I have been able to make out from his arm insignia that he is a First Sargent. I have been trying to read the patch above his left pocket to see if that is a name but I cannot get it clear enough make out. Can anyone help?

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

At first glance it looked like Boris but wondered if it could be Forest? If you could scan just the patch at a resolution of 600dpi we may be able to make out what it says.

This is a very small image and I am not sure my scanner will let me do that - will try.

That solved it think - FOREST

Now is he WWII or later?  He must have been a comrade of a family member for the name Forest is not connected in the tree yet.

Yes I thought that's what it said but wasn't sure. There is a joke in there somewhere, Tree and Forest  ;D
Could it be related to the work he was doing? It looks too modern to be Either of the two world wars but I could be wrong. He appears to be holding a book or pad of some sort.

surname on Combat/fatigue uniforms, the hat was issued 1941 onwards.
