This is one of my brickwalls.  I have been searching for a John Maynes (or Mains, or Maines), farmer whose son James was born about 1852.  James died young before the 1901 census so no luck there then.  I hae found a John Maynes, farmer in Mullahead, Kilmore and wonder if anyone can give me any clues as to his birth.  His first daughter was named Mary, so possibly it might be the name of his mother, wife of John.  These are my step family rcords.
