Just eliminated Elizabeth Ellen Smith Thompson, she is the daughter of William and on the 1881 with William and family

Looks like Margaret could be the daughter of Martha, though in the 1871 Census it looks like Sister! The Birth Registration shows a Margaret Waddington with Mother's maiden name Waddington

Thanks I have Margaret Banks on the Census with her Mother

John has connection to Tithebarn Street in Preston, He was born there, The Family were nearly all Bricklayers, and they even had the pub Tithebarn Tavern, which had the nickname at one time The Bricklayers Arms - due perhaps to a lot of the Thompson family being Bricklayers!

Due to how many Brothers, Cousins etc all living in the Preston area they can be difficult! 

I am liking that he lied about his Father , that works for me - though being from the family and his Mother baptising him (Without) Father it seems a bit odd, but the different fathers make it all the more likely what I am not happy about is the Elizabeth Thompson!!! or was that another child with the Mothers maiden name

Martha I think would be too young to be the Mother and I did look for the registration!
