William Holbrow - Long Wait for Burial
« on: Sunday 07 July 19 18:58 BST (UK) »
Hello Rootschat

William Holbrow born 1795 was admitted to Grove Hall, London in 1846, he died there on 11 January 1848
Apparently there was a cholera outbreak but without the death certificate cause of death is unknown

https://ezitis.myzen.co.uk/grovehall.html

William was buried in St Mary, Newington, Southwark on 23 February 1848
Why such a long time to be buried, inquest, lack of burial space in London

Thank you for your help

Just wondering - where have you got the date of death from if you don't have the certificate?

Lunacy Patients Admission Registers, 1846-1912 shows William's entry and date of death.

Appauling, fascinating and sad in equal measures

The depth of the graves must have been affected by the weather as you previously mentioned and the safety of the grave diggers
