Marriage Of John William Emerson And Margaret Rae Johnston Carstairs 1896

Looking for the marriage of my Great Grand Parents John William Emerson and Margaret Rae Johnston. Their children's birth certificates all state that they married on 12th or 15th June 1896 in Carstairs. I have been so far unable to find their marriage. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome and reply Rosie. I did search on Scotland's People but nothing came up but maybe the slight difference in spelling was the reason for that. Thanks again.

It is the reason.

It's always a good idea to use wildcards on SP searches. For example I would use jo*n*s*n* to pick up all variants of Johnson/Johnstone and m*k*n*z* to pick up all variants of MacKenzie.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
