WHEALE: Lost in 1901
« on: Wednesday 17 August 05 05:41 BST (UK) »
Hello,
(1) My ancestor James Wheale & his wife Elizabeth have disappeared from the 1901 Census. Rumour has it he died in a mine accident. Prior to this date he had had nothing to do with mining. His family were still in England. Did they go to Wales? Is he on the 1901 Census, born Hereford. aged 45/46? now in the Glamorgan area with Elizabeth also bn
Herefordshire.
.(2) In 1903 a death is recorded of a James Wheale in the
Gower area. Is this him? Could he have travelled to Wales
to find work? and ended up in the mines and met his death.
Hinton.

Hello Borneo,
Thanks for yr mail. Wheale has many variants over the
years and I wouldn`t dismiss this entry as not being a possiblity.
Since 1892 they have disappeared leaving their
younger children to the mercy of the state.

Thanks again,
Hinton

Hello Brian,
Thanks for yr reply. The info sent is a profile of his life
prior to 1901. At this time he had a family & had moved
to the North of England. I know that he died young. After
1892 there are no more sightings, & in 1901 his younger
children are in a home. He could have returned to Ledbury & died there or it could be him in Wales.
The stuff genealogy is made of.
Thanks again,
Hinton

Hi Hinton,
I'm sorry I wasn't of much help.
The only way to put yourself out of your misery, is to apply for the death cert, and hope for the best.
If it is the right person in Ledbury (death cert) this will tell you if he was a widower, or not, etc.

The reason I put all the info down, is in case somebody else had any information for you.
Best of luck.
