Brilliant. I think we have figured it out. I knew if I went to the experts, the problem would be solved.

Deirdre784 - above you mentioned William's parents Abel and Elizabeth were married in 1842 (I have July 14th). Does your information indicate where the marriage took place?

Freebmd shows Abel and Elizabeth Parrett marriage was reg at Abergavenny Dist. Sept 1842. I believe it was July 14th.  Am curious to know place of marriage.

The certificate says "The Parish Church of Llanover"

Indeed. And yes, 14 July. Abel a farmer. Fathers were both farmers too, Thomas Parrett and Henry Davies.
