Eleanor Parry 1844
« on: Sunday 14 July 19 21:06 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Theres a grave I go to visit in Conwy and i'm interested in the grave that is actually next to it..

St Marys Church, Conwy

Eleanor Parry died in June 1844 at the age of 10 years old.
Her mother is also called Eleanor and I think her dad is called Thomas?

Does anyone know of this family? Or why she died so young? Or if there were other siblings etc?

I'm just trying to see if theres some kind of match with this grave and the one i visit because theres loads of space in the cemetry and yet them two are stood very close side by side with each other! maybe for no reason, but i'm curious! :)

Have you looked her up on the 1841 census & looked up her death on freebmd?  Buying a copy of her death cert will give cause of death.  Following the family through the censuses will give any siblings

If I am looking in the right place (Conway PR) the burial index has her as age 19 - Ellen Parry abode High Street, buried 25 June 1844.

The 1841 census has Rose Hill Street, Conway
Thomas Parry 45 Mariner
Ellinor 45
Ellinor 14

In 1851 this couple are in the High street but have a 16 year old niece Ellenor Parry staying with them

All the available records have her as aged 19. I wonder if the inscription on the grave is wrong or the 9 looks like a 0.

Just to note that a wrong age  was given on my 4 x great grandparents' headstone. My 4 x great grandmother's age was carved as 87 rather than 67. So it could well be that a 0 was carved rather than a 9, maybe caused by misreading written instructions or mishearing.

Hi! You are so right! After zooming in and getting a few people to check it, we think it's not a 0, definitely a 9!! So she was 19 years old when she died! :O
