« on: Friday 19 July 19 07:15 BST (UK) »
I have a an 1881 census reference for the Griffin Inn at Grwyne Fechan. Would appreciate any other information about the Inn and its location.

Found it from the 6 inch map of 1886 on the NLS site. It was at Pont-y-Felin right at the top of this map:

The inn was by a mill so presumably there was trade from carters and farmers.

The 1881 Census reads -
Tycommin, The Daran, Talymaes, Hermitage, Tyn y Cwm, Tylau, Cwm Farm, Nant yr uchain, Penyrheol fach, Griffin Inn. The Griffin Inn is the last entry for the Hamlet of Gwryne Fechan, Parish of Talgarth.

Some of these can be found on the eastern side of this map - some way from the Griffin at Felin fach

Need to check adjoining maps but no time at the present.

Not so much a hamlet as the whole upper part of the valley. The Griffin is shown on the map that I linked above.

I have just realised that GRWYNE FECHAN is Breconshire and not Monmouthshire. Sorry everyone
