Thanks for the information on Jessie. I am no longer on Ancestry which tends to be accurate and tending to rely on family search which is sometimes a little out. The great thing about RootsChat  it is always very friendly and I am gently pointed back in the right direction. i love this site.

you can use FreeBmd which is a transcription of the gro index

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/

and the GRO index itself, free, you just need to register. It gives mother's maiden name for the period before it shows of FreeBmd and age at death shown on earlier registrations as well

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp

accurate record from FamilySearch

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2FZR-QM4

To be honest, I don't use Ancestry for research in Wales. The transcriptions of place names mess up the searches too much.

Thanks for all the messages, Rootschat has to the best site I have ever come across. Full of people who are tireless  in their assistance and have only one aim and that is to help others solve their enigmas.
