Looking for any info.on William Souter.  Born in Meigle Perth Scotland in 1791 according to the census. I believe his wife's name was Elizabeth.  I have looked on Scotland's people to no avail.  Any information would be gratefully received.  Thank you

Born at Arbroath, Betsy Allan married William Souter a Tailor by profession. She died a Widow, while living at 25 West Abbey Street, Arbroath, at the age of 81 years of "Old Age and Paralysis"

Looking at the census of 1851, William was a retired mariner and then became a Grenwich pensioner.

We often see Sailor/Tailor mixed up.

On the 1841 he was a Tailor, 1851 Retired Tailor both on freecen Transcriptions.

In which case are you referring to the William Souter who in 1871 is living in Sunderland with wife Elizabeth?
