Mariel I know that you want to find out more about Thomas, but without more info about his wife and child,it is going to be impossible to pin him down. We search for the smallest clue to find records of him so that we can get a DOB and parents for him.

We need as much info as possible to do so.

Completely agree, we're just scratching blind at the moment, Here's Mary's death but that does'nt help much.

Rizzi    Mary C    Female                Perth    597    1944

Still waiting to see a Canadian connection. ???  The Boer War was being fought in SA from 1899 to 1902 and Canadian forces joined the British so just maybe.

I understand Carol, just don’t want anyone wasting time on info already established. Mary was born into a theatrical family and travelled the world. She was touring South Africa with the Pollard Opera Company in 1902/04 (her parents were there too) when she married Tom. Baby was born 1905 but the family came back to Australia without Tom (passenger lists confirm this) around 1908. Tom was presumed deceased. Mary left 3 yr old Nellie with her parents and (?) never returned. Nellie grew up not knowing her mother or father. We have info on Mary but Tom is still a mystery.

9 Feb 1908 - Sunday Times, Perth
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/57577063

News to hand of the death of Tom Dingey, one time middle weight champion of South Africa, and son-in-law of Dad Pollard Sullivan, aide de kong to Mick Joseph. Dingey defeated in his time Jewey Cook, Mike Williams, and Ted Nelson. Dingey, whose right name was Day, was run over and instantly killed by a train at Brownsville, New Brunswick. Served in South Africa with one of the Canadian contingents, and when in Boerland married Miss Molly O'Sullivan, daughter of the said dad, that lady being then travelling with the Pollard Co. The wife and child were to have joined him in Brownsville next month, at which place his parents reside.  He was only 26.
