Hi all,
Well, as you will have no doubt have noted yourselves,  the mother's mn have, for 8 out of the 10 children,   all come back as Pratley!! the other 2 not found yet.
The 1851 Ladyhawk has posted is the census I have been using.

As I mentioned earlier ther are about a dozen "Pratley" couples all baptising children in Leafield which doesn't help. I did think that Sarah's name could have been mis-transcribed but the original don't support that suggestion.

Having looked at the GRO entries,  I would think that Sarah has either used her married name instead of her maiden name or that she was never married to Richard and may have been a "Pratley" all along;

Going by the findings of your replies it is evident there are children with same first names born to other "Pratley" couples.

I'm looking for a marriage of Richard Pratley to a Sarah ?? about 1840/5 in Oxfordshire and wonder if anyone can help please.

Richard Pratley was bapt. 25-3-1821 Leafield s/o Elisha & Anne.

Now a problem I have come across is  there is a marriage of;

Richard Pratley (s/o Richard) to Keziah Scarrott 8-11-1843 in Shipton under Wychwood
and also

Richard Willett  (s/o Philip) to Sarah Pratley (d/o Elisha) in Shipton 13-10-1845.

To complicate matters even more Richard Pratley & Sarah have about 10 children one of whom is a son baptised as Augustine Pratley 19-1-1851 Leafield who marries  a Sarah Ann Harris 25-12-1878 in Kilburn, London and he is recorded as Augustine Pratley Willett  who lists his father as Richard Pratley Willett.

I'm wondering if the 1845 Willet/Pratley marriage is actually correct for your Richard & Sarah Pratley from 1851 census

I have not found a baptism for a Richard WILLET with a father named Philip nor have I found an entry on 1841 census

Hi all,
Well here's another problem.
I've just found a burial for Richard Pratley in 1841 aged 20 Leafield.

If this is the Richard (s/o Elisha) bapt. 1821 married to Ann , then where does the Richard (as above) belong to??

Still no luck in finding a marriage of Richard to Ann.

Yes that is what I thought seeing the GRO birth index for their son Mark and their marriage entry

Well here's another problem.

I've just found a burial for Richard Pratley in 1841 aged 20 Leafield.

Richard was buried 5 Aug 1841 so should be on the 1841 census

Perhaps Elisha & Ann named another son Richard (bn 1842) after their son Richard (1821) died  Although their son Richard (1821) is NOT on the 1841c with parents Elisha & Ann
