Pitmans of Yarlington and Nth Cadbury
« on: Saturday 27 July 19 09:25 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find any Pitman decedents of William PITMAN and Anne HOSKINS. They were married in Yarlington in 1812
3 children that I know of John 1814 I believe married Elizabeth WARE,
Thomas 1816. married Mary Ann CLOTHIER.
and Charlotte 1812-1824
William died in the Wincanton Workhouse in 1866, and Anne died in Nth  Cadbury in 1863.
I have a document written in 2000 on Yarlington from S W Miller, 5 Woolston Rd, Nth Cadbury, if anyone knows of him?
Thanks

Hi
You might want to add that the marriage register gives William as William Wadley alias Pitman and his death gives him as born 1789.
There is a baptism of William to Ann Pitman 9.12.1787 at Yarlington so Mr Wadley may be his father.

Thankyou, yes I have that information, I am trying to find someone a little closer to present day.
There were GARTELLS, GARLANDS and RAPSON in Castle Cary, hoping some names may bring memories.

Have you looked to see if anyone is researching the family by looking in 'Surname Interests' under 'Your Tools' below?

What family have you found for them (Thomas and John) in the censuses, and when and where do you think they died?

Added:
Have you contacted tree holders on Ancestry?

John died 1903 in Yarlington, Thomas and family were still in Nth Cadbury in 1871, and in 1891  Mary Ann was a widow, and still there. I have contacted all those who have them in their trees on Ancestry, only 1  replied, and was not interested.
have checked the surname  interest page here, but there does not seem to be any way to contact them.

' have checked the surname  interest page here, but there does not seem to be any way to contact them.'
Under 'chatter', click on 'view forum profile' (NOT 'show all records from..') and them send PM.

'John died 1903 in Yarlington,'
Children?
Have you found the children in censuses and marriages, deaths, etc?

Have you tried different websites e,g, GenesReunited?

Genes Reunited yes I am a member, I have been researching this family for over 15 years, there is very little that I haven't tried, quite a few brick walls, and a few wrong turns, and I cannot find any 'chatter' button.

When you are on the Pitman page (13 entries) in Surname interests, there is a chatter column heading, and you hover over the 'picture' NOT the persons user name to get to forum profile.
