I have just found out that one of my guys was a member of this organization in the 1900's.
Does anyone have any info on this organization?

Also - an article in the Globe and Mail paper from April 1 1926....it says that two great orders in the insurance field are joining forces.   The Ancient Order of United Workmen is merging with the Independent Order of Foresters.   They are both fraternal organizations.  The Ancient Order of United Workmen is the pioneer of fraternal insurance in Ontario.  It has decided to merge with the IOF, effective May 31 1926.  The article is primarily numbers... it says how much each group has paid out in insurance benefits this past year, their annual income, their assets, their membership etc etc.  Looks like the IOF is the larger group (152,000 members...compared to 8,300 for the AOUW).
