Frank Goodeve 1854

This relative was supposed to join the navy for 10 years in 1873 yet I know he didn't and thanks to one member who deciphered the service record for me was Discharged to Sick Quarters in 1873. Does anyone know where I can find out what his medical problem was because it seems a bit drastic after only approximately 6 months into service. Apologies if I have not given enough information but I am quite new to this. At the time he was servicing on the Audacious.

Royal Navy records of the time are notoriously thin on detail (as you've seen) and I fear the chances of finding any info related to his medical state are vanishingly small.

Others more familiar with RN records may wish to comment on whether the "Audacious" Ship's Ledger https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C2753700
would have any detail?

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
