Descendants of Donald Cameron (Glassary, Argyll) on Rootschat?
« on: Monday 05 August 19 12:30 BST (UK) »
Are there any other rootschatters who are descended from Donald Cameron (1793-1858) who came to Canada from Glassary, Kirkmichael, Argyll to Vaughan, ON?  Any descendants of Donald's brothers William (1807-1890), Hector (1819-1898) and Archibald (1810-1890)?  Some, maybe all, of the brothers settled in Middlesex County, ON.

You obviously have some information. How far forward have you research children of those brothers ?

I actually haven't done any research on the descendants of the brothers.  I simply wondered if any of them were on Rootschat.  If so, did any of them ever go to the Cameron clan picnics that used to be organized ever two years in Vellore.  I would also be interested in connecting with them.

Hello, I am descended from Donald's youngest sister Janet (1805-1896). She didn't come to Canada. I think my great grandmother may have attended one of the Cameron picnics, I have seen her name on a list. But there was not much connection with the family, I don't think.

Hi Grisel,

I am Donald's 4x (or is it 5?) g-granddaughter.  I attended the picnics as a child.  Did Janet also emigrate to Canada or was it one of her younger generations?  I have some information on Donald's side and a little on William, Hector and Duncan's sides but I really don't know much or anything about the other siblings, especially the sisters.

Amended re: the strikeout: I didn't see that part.

Sandra

hi Sandra,

I do have a tree on Ancestry which I tend to forget about since I have focused on other branches of my tree.

I do know the owner of the Ryeland family tree and we keep in contact on a somewhat regular basis.
