Please can anyone identify the regiment whose cap badge is depicted here? Assuming I have attached the photograph correctly.

You have posted this in the WW1 slot.  The badge looks as if it has the Queen's crown which dates it as post 1952.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Note the difference between numbers 1 to 5 , King's crown, and number 6 Queen's crown

In the absence of a caption to the original photograph I posted in the WW1 forum because all discussion with members of the family which had provided the image had concerned that era. It never occurred to me that it might be later. Thanks for the heads-up.

It is NOT Q/C but it is a King's Crown badge on a WW1 era cap.  The uniform will confirm this a post 1953 uniform was very different.

Your emphatic disagreement suggests you might like to post an image of the two versions of a Gunner cap badge to show us where we are wrong??

Oh, and I was wearing the same headdress in the 60s, no photo to hand unfortunately, as indeed do the King's Troop today when not in full dress.  http://www.rootschat.com/links/01o8w/
