Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Omagh is in Co Tyrone. You need to ask for this to be moved to the Tyrone board.

Rylands townland near Omagh.

I agree.... maybe change title to Doonan  too?

Makes it easier for others to see if they come looking for Doonan in the future.

Hello, I am trying to find out about my family who originated in Rylands township in Omagh, County Tyrone.  My great grandparents John Doonan and Catherine Donnelly came to Glasgow about 1895.  John was born about 1869.   His parents were Charles Doonan and Bridget McCusker who were married on 18/5/1865 in Omagh.  Charles parents were Charles Doonan and Una McAulay.
Bridget McCuskers parents were Owen and Sarah but I have no further information on them.
Catherine Donnellys parents were Hugh Donnelly and Mary McGuire and Catherine was born about 1873.   Apparently John and Catherine were married by hand fast in Ireland as Catherine was pregnant and being catholic her parents were not happy.  The family story intimates that they eloped to Glasgow and were legally married there in the Catholic Church.  They settled in Glasgow at 75 Dawson Street, Parkhead.  I hope this information will enable me to find out more about my family's roots in County Tyrone.  Thank you.
Maria

If you change Doonan to Donnolly as per  Reply#3 you should be able to find any registered Births etc for them.

Catherine was born about 1873  so try 1870 to 1875 for her and tick Births

always allow a couple of years each way when searching.
