Torquay Cemetery Look up
« on: Thursday 15 August 19 03:34 BST (UK) »

Would someone be willing to look for a burial site at Torquay Cemetery for Evelyn Harrod who passed away May 1951.DOB  1876

She might be in a common grave.

I  think she is my long lost grandmothers sister.

I live in Canada and would appreciate any help. How does one get burial records for this cemetery?

There are quite a few cemeteries in the Torquay area.
Is this her?
Evelyn Harrod.  Apr-May-Jun 1951 Newton Abbot, Devon, age 75.

That is her. Someone sent me the following Evelina Harrod age 75 Residence Fawsley Hotel,
Sundury Hill, burial date 12 May 1951, Torquay Cemetery

I am wondering if there was a misspelling on her first name or the person sending it misspelled it.

I have her living in 1931 at Lincombe Road, Torquay, Devon she may have moved around while living in Torquay.

I have done some searching on Billion Graves and Find a Grave for the above cemetery but no luck.

A obituary if there is one would certainly be helpful but not everyone had a obit. I am pretty certain she did not keep in touch with my grandmother after she came to Canada in 1914 and not known if she kept in touch with her parents and other siblings who all lived in Essex.

She is my brick wall, hopefully this death record  might be her. Fingers crossed.

Hi

You may be better contacting the cemetery as you have the details of the burial.  I doubt that they will be able to give you any more information than you have on the burial.
https://www.torquaycrematorium.co.uk/

The death certificate is more likely to give helpful information though as she appears too have been a 'servant' of some kind and living away from family the informant could be anyone.

That burial does match with the death entry I found on your other post

Thanks Rosie I have sent off a email to the cemetery, fingers crossed that she is there and they can provide a burial location. I suspect she could be in a common grave.

Her death cert will probably be next on my list.

Cheers

I meant to post this yesterday Evelyn Harrod burial location has been found thanks to the Torquay

Crematorium. Co.

She is located in the Old Victorian Cemetery Burial # 24115 plot 2955K section cons no memorial on grave. Such a old cemetery by looking at the pictures.

Thanks to all Rootschat listers who replied to my query you have all been so helpful. I appreciate  you all taking time to reply

Cheers from Canada :) :) :) :)
