« on: Sunday 18 August 19 18:46 BST (UK) »
Hi

With a lot of help i have tracked down john silvester franks  1869 who went to south africa when he was 1 on the city of london boat from liverpool.

I am unable to see who he travelled with. He went to bedford in south africa

Any ideas how to find out and why they would have gone there from south wales?

Tia

Are you sure that you've got the right person?
John Silvester Franks’ birth was registered in the June Quarter 1872 in district East Ward (Westmorland). Mother’s maiden name = Baker
This fits with his 1904 death registration in Cape Province: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939Z-5X99-TH?i=135&cc=1779109 and death notice: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSQ8-W9RG-3?i=1433&cc=2517051&cat=331262

Can you give me his parents' names and your sources for his "1869" birth registration and his 1901/1902 death registration  (i.e. at 32Y) to confirm your assumptions?

Note: John Sylvester Franks born June Quarter 1872 in district East Ward (Westmorland) was the son of Sylvester Franks (b abt 1849 Compton Martin, Somerset) and Elizabeth Amelia Baker (b abt 1847 Blaenavon, Monmouthshire)  ...Their names are confirmed in the 1904 death notice I'd given previously. John was baptised at St Michael's, Appleby, Westmoreland on 04 AUG 1872.
His parents were married in district Clutton (Somerset) in 1871. Dad Sylvester seems to have died in 1879 in in district Newport (Monmouthshire). (It might be that John spent most of his life in Wales, but he wasn't born there.)
Eva May and Henry Edward are mentioned in the 1904 death notice.

OK. Thank you, I have got a bit muddled with these.so I appreciate your help good job, I am double checking everything!.

It makes more sense in that I have a record showing Henry Frank's the child living with Elizabeth amelia, grandmother in 1911, and now I can see where she comes from.

Just need to rebook at how they got to South Africa and why

Many thanks for your help, it is great fully received
