there are trees on A*******y which  site that Arthur was married to Mary and they had a child Eliza b 6 Dec 1828 bapptised 16 Jan 1829 Bhaugulpore Bengal India  and Eliza died 11 Mar 1831 Bhaugulpore India and then Eliza is noted as being in Berks on 1841  census ????
Possibly it was Mary who died 1831 in Bengal and someone has made a typo??

The marriage to Margaretta Nash is given as 1835 Berks -so that may be a starting point
A******y give Arthur's army records as Arthur Skingsley enlisted age 15 discharged age 41 b.23/04/1797 High Exter Essex
3rd reg of Foot or Buffs reg no 79
He was examined 26  Jun 1839

but I will look now on another site and at images for further details

Suzard and Heywood, Thank you for all the new information! I think it’s possible that Arthur was married before , the name Skingsley at the time was also not very common. The marriage to Margaretta Nash could give us a clue if he was previously married but no marriage so far


How long did Arthur stay in India?

She married after his death ? Interesting, didn’t know that. The marriage maybe took place after Arthur’s death in 1853
