:) OK so an Alfred Garrett living two doors away from Elizabeth in 1881 Sherborne could possibly not be the Alfred who married Elizabeth later in 1881?
Keyboard86

:) I think that he is likely to be the Alfred Garrett who married Elizabeth in 1881, I just don't think he is the father of Elizabeth Ann/Ann/Annie Stacey, ELizabeth's daughter in 1874. I was hoping the Parish Register may have named who the suspected father was but I don't think I will ever know. Thanks for all of your help Keyboard86 and for the connections you made on the census records too.
All the best Em

OK so you do not have the parish record or certificate for the marriage of Elizabeth Stacey to Alfred Garrett which would show fathers & any witnesses?
Keyboard86

Remember Alfred was in the same locallity in 1871 census?

That's right I didn't have access to the parish register to verify my information and was hoping Elizabeth Ann's baptism might show if there was a suspected father and I was hoping to find out what was written in the register regarding her mother Elizabeth's wedding to Alfred Garnett. I just wanted to ensure that Elizabeth Stacey snr was a spinster. Family folk law suggested Elizabeth had married a Stacey and had Elizabeth Ann but that Mr Stacey had died. The census records and more had proved this wrong but I wanted as much evidence as possible. It is also handy to know who witnesses are too. Thanks again.

:) So as we cannot locate a parish record, ( It could be a Registrar marriage ) are you going to buy the certificate?
If so, please come back with the content!
