Checked and doublechecked children of James (a harness maker) and Sarah:

Can find no baptisms between their marriage in 1818 and 1823 then:

Elizabeth bp.22/2/1824 Heigham
George William bp.5/3/1826 Heigham
Lydia Ann bp.29/4/1828 Heigham - buried 7/7/1834 St. Margaret, Norwich
Philip bp.28/6/1829 Heigham
Mary Ann bp.31/10/1830 Heigham
William Isaac born 15/12/1832 Heigham - buried 15/1/1833 St. Margaret, Norwich
Henry Friday bp.6/4/1834 St. Giles, Norwich - buried 18/5/1835 St. Margaret, Norwich
Clement bp.29/7/1836 St. Giles, Norwich

Baptisms all confirm James as a harness maker.

In 1841 Sarah Newton is in Heigham with a Sarah 15 (bc.1822-1826), a George 10 (bc.1831) and Clement 4.   Cannot find baptisms anywhere for said Sarah and George plus no burial for the earlier George William born 1826 so a little bit odd.  I'm wondering whether 'Sarah' is actually dau. Elizabeth born 1824 and 'George' son Philip born 1829. (cannot find any burials for Elizabeth and Philip)??

FYI - solidrock ....

re :  James Newton natural born child to Sarah Neale (illegitmate son) 1818:-

James (1818-1875) joined the army in 1839.  Attested to the 96th Regiment.  He was sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) about 1840.  His detachment was then sent to Auckland, New Zealand in 1844.  Poor lad deserted in 1845 and was gone for 5 years.  He then gave himself up to the 58th Reg. in 1851.

He joined the Forest Rangers under Von Tempsky during the 1860 land wars, and led many raids.  He could speak Maori and knew his way around the villages and forest areas.  Was quite a character.

Have a Sarah Newton born to James and Sarah born 23 Nov. 1821 and baptised 5th Dec. 1821 at St Benedicts, Norwich.  Can't quite read James' occupation.  Maybe something he did before becoming a harness maker.

I can't make out his occupation either, perhaps someone else can.

There was another James and Sarah in Norfolk baptising children in the same time frame.   This other James was a 'Warper' and I think this 1821 baptism for a Sarah says 'Warper'.
