WILLIAM STEWART married AGNES MUIR GOODWIN 31 January 1919 Galston
Their son Daniel was born Galston later in 1919.

The following is on Family Search.

In 1926 Daniel and his mother sailed to St John, NB on the SS Montcalm
Their destination was 124 East 153rd Street. Destination 124 East 153rd Street., Harvey,  Illinois where William Stewart, was residing.

I do not quite understand the following sailing?

In 1829 Daniel and his mother were on the SS Duchess of Atholl - St John, NB, this time William Stewart is noted at 15534 Central Ave, Harvey, Illinois.

So I guess William Stewart left Scotland between 1919 & 1926, can anyone help with immigration records or anything else?

Hi Colin,

 I'm pretty sure he's the Wm STEWART born 1897 departing Glasgow 15 Feb 1923 for St John on the Metagama. (Ancestry-UK, Outward Passenger Lists, 1890-1960).

 His incoming Canadian record says he's joining uncle Hugh DONNELL? Oakwood Ave. Toronto. Wife is Agnes-15 Orchard St Galston.

 On his Illinois, Federal Naturalization Records, 1856-1991
He says he arrived in the US via Detroit on April 30,1923.

 FamilySearch doesn't work for me today so I'm not sure which records are available.

Hi Maureen,
Thank you so much, I checked FS but he did not appear.

Wife Agnes-15 Orchard St Galston, is correct, I'm not sure about Hugh DONNELL but WILLIAM STEWART, formerly WILLIAM JAMES HOUSTON, was the son of Thomas Houston, Colliery Fireman deceased, mother Agnes Houston, MS Whitelaw.

Thomas died shortly before William was born, his mother then married Daniel Stewart my wife's Grandfather. I guess Hugh Donnell could be from his fathers family.

Many thanks EV, I would never have found that.

Isabella Whitelaw Stewart wife of John Dexter, was my wife's aunt Bella.

Half sister to William as you will see from my post to Maureen. The Dexter's moved to Nottingham and died there in the 1980s.
