Jessie may be Jessie Ruth Gordon, b 1903, married a Joseph Slow, divorced 1925, re married a William Chambers in 1930.

Jessie Ruth Isabella Chambers nee Gordon's 1978 death:

Born in 1902 in Salt River, but parents' names  are not mentioned and she isn't classed as white like William Alexander Gordon ...

Many thanks, Treespirit. Will not rule her out yet but looks doubtful. The search goes on. Our priority is still John Thomas Gordon & Sophia Harriet Peters. We have an old photo postcard (late Victorian)  of Sophia with her sister, Maud & her mother (name unknown) but no father. Elderly relatives said Sophia was born in Berlin but unable to confirm that.
