John Truelove
« on: Thursday 03 October 19 21:45 BST (UK) »
Hello
I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find records for my  12x great grandfather John Truelove who was born abt 1498 - I don't know who he was married to but they had a son, also called John who was born abt 1520.

I don't have a town in Buckinghamshire but they then moved to Yorkshire where my 10x great grandfather was born.

Any help would be great, thank you in advance.
Regards

Probably the best place to start in that time period, before parish records, is the Bucks Record Society publications:

http://www.bucksrecsoc.org.uk/publications.html

Especially:

Subsidy Roll for the County of Buckingham Anno 1524

The Certificate of Musters for Buckinghamshire in 1522

These would have a reasonably high percentage of adult men in Bucks at that time. However, none named Trulove/Truelove.

Also the Bucks Wills index:

https://shop.buckscc.gov.uk/s4s/WhereILive/Council?pageId=2347&pid=36803787-1a6a-4c46-bbfb-a5ad00f89b6b&supId=c988f85e-be98-4bf3-b184-a5ad00efd350&bcgId=fcea1611-2a26-4a1d-a4a6-b480f7423e14

But the earliest is John Trulove, of Iver, 1604

Also, I have been indexing Common Pleas records, which are available here:

http://aalt.law.uh.edu/Indices/CP40Indices/CP40_Indices.html

You don't have to search all of them all individually. You can search here:
http://www.uh.edu/waalt/index.php/Main_Page

And you can use google:
site:http://aalt.law.uh.edu/indices/cp40indices/ "trulove, john"

You will find a few John Truloves at about the right time (in Sussex, Essex and Middx), but not in Bucks.

One question. Your John Truelove in Yorkshire, how do you know he came from Bucks?

Hello
Thanks for your reply.
I was just going of the hints on Ancestry, so unverified.

Sounds like a wild goose chase - Sorry.
