Have found this couple on the 1871 and 1881 if someone could please check them out for me in 1891 where I might pick up a few clues.
In 1891 they would have been
George Roffey 59 born Bromley
Ann 66 born Isle of Man
possibly son George 16 born Bromley

Thank you Sue I had just found a death for husband George in 1881 as you info arrived.
I am sure that you have found their son George 16.  Not I know the 2 eldest are missing can search for them on the 1901.  Thanks for your help once again.

I am almost sure it is the correct John.
The name of Wells has cropped up before on a Roffey census but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.
You have certainly given me plenty to think about.  Couldn't find George the sailor in 1901 but he could have been at sea.
