Willis and Buhot Alderney and Cherbourg

Hi,

1.  Mary Elizabeth Willis born on Alderney in 1856 married Edouard Armand Theodulé Buhot, in St. Anne’s Church on 23rd April 1878.  Edouard, a shipping manager or merchant from Cherbourg, was the son of François Charles Buhot.  I believe Mary went to live with her husband and his family in Cherbourg but know nothing more.

2.  Her father Alfred Osborn Willis, who owned the butchers in Alderney, sold up and moved to Cherbourg for his health (nearby hospital).  I believe he lived with the Buhots.  Alfred died in Cherbourg after a long painful illness 1889 but I cannot find out the cause of death.

Any information about this or how to find records from Cherbourg (I don't speak French) would be appreciated.

Alfred Orborn Willis died 11 January 1889, cause of death is quasi never mentioned in civil records, but the record does mention that he lived/died in Quai de Paris no. 38 in Cherbourg.
