I cannot find a marriage for James Hurley and Ann/Annie/Anna.

I think Sowley in Devon is Southleigh.

https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/Southleigh

That has come up on a few searches.

Hi again, I think Anna Day aged 19 is with her unmarried sister Mary 25 both born Creech residing in West Monkton, Taunton in 1851 census HO107/1923/297/17
So we have in 1861 James Hurley 35 occ Butcher but called  George
1871/1881/1891 as James and 1901 as John?
Death as James?

The details of the marriage in 1858 fit with information we know on this couple.

The certificate shows they married at St Peter, Bristol, on 5 April 1858. James Harley, age 33, bachelor, Butcher, resident at 46 Castle St, father: John Harley, Baker.

Ann Wills, age 26, Widow, resident 46 Castle St, father: James Day, Yeoman.

Witnesses were: Thomas Harley and Elizabeth Harley.

Bucher ,Baker just need a candle stick maker now 😁
I doing my tree and as said in the thread it can send you in wrong directions f not thorough that I honestly struggle with the time and patience.  BUT .. I'm fairly sure these hurleys going back to Fred are my lot they are all from that part of bristol records are very mixed up and hard to put together even with living relatives in their 90s
