Polish Towns: Bluty & Kaluchy
« on: Thursday 10 October 19 12:35 BST (UK) »
I found these two places on a Passenger List but am struggling to find these Polish towns, Bluty & Kaluchy, on a map. I can only assume that they were written down phonetically but are spelled very differently. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There's a good chance these places are near the Ukrainian border if not right in the Ukraine.

Dunn/Taylor (Worcestershire)
Pearson (Worcestershire)
Hill/Rhodes (Worcestershire)
Gough (Warwickshire)
Perry (Devon, Worcestershire)
Maynard (Essex, Yorkshire)
Jennings (Devon)
Coldicott (Warwickshire, Gloucestershire)

Because of border changes after WW2 the names may have been changed to Ukranian forms, transliterated into Cyrilic and then back again.

Sorry. I should have given dates. The Passenger List is from 1934 so pre WWII. Some Googling brought up a Polish-Ukranian war so I'm sure the boundary changed over time and probably a few times. I would love to find out where these places are.

Thank you! I saw Kresy and wondered if it might be Kaluchy. From what I read it looks like it is now part of the Ukraine. It's so confusing.

It is now part of Belarus, not far from Poland's eastern border
