« on: Monday 14 October 19 09:00 BST (UK) »

Hi folks,
Is there any info on the family of Helen & John GARDNER living in Cathcart St.Greenock
Renfrewshire  Scotland in 1841?
John is a Tailors Jrnymn & they were both born outside census co.
Their children Jane 15, John 15 & David 13 were born in Renfrew. David is the person of interest.
There are 3 other males in the HH.
Hoping there's something available on him.  Thanks ABSOT

Don’t forget that Jane and John could have been recorded in 1841 with their ages rounded down to 15 so they may be older.

Daniel and David are sometimes interchangeable (although not normally referred to as name variants). This could be David's birth entry: www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XTNG-196

Did John Snr show in 1851?

There is this - www.inverclyde.gov.uk in their database Intimations-1826-1850 :

1848 Death

John Gardner, tailor, found drowned in the East Harbour, Greenock on 31 March 1848 (Greenock Advertiser 4 April 1848)

Also showing there is the Gardner & Bogle couple that Ev mentions above from the 1851 census who married in 1848.

Thank you MonicaL, DonM and Craclyn,   Certainly very handy information.

Is it possible to identify Daniel Turner Gardner in 1851, or anything else
about him? Thanks, absot
Looks like Helen Gardener W 55 is in Tranent, East Lothian, with daughter Margaret, 10;
grnson George 8, & Helen Mathew grndtr, 5 in 1851.
So John has married, not able to find Daniel.  Cheers absot
