Michael Roles
« on: Monday 14 October 19 15:08 BST (UK) »
Hello. Michael Roles was born in Clonmel in 1915. He married in 1940 and moved to England. Does anyone know anything about his ancestry. It may be that his mother was Catherine, and father unknown. There is some suggestion that he may be related to W B Yeats.

Hi, Use this site...……………
BDM
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/
Census 1901 and 1911
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
There are 2 x Roles families but too young to be Catherine's parents.
Another Roles in Waterford.

Did he marry Mary McAlonan in 1940

If so than his father was Michael

Which he could have made up, if this is his birth, no father named, mother Catherine

With various spellings of Surname you could try a Search like this on

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

which is the Irish Govt BDM Website and one can get Free Civil Reg Certs.

There is a security Captcha to solve and one can use initials to sign in

Perfectly safe site to use, no Sub or Reg needed.

I just used  Ro*  and Clonmel    which gets one all Surnames beginning Ro  but one can then Select Births or whatever  and even decades from within results.

https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/civil-records/help/what-civil-records-are-on-line  explains Years etc.
