This sounds promising because there was a blind company owned by the family 'Bagnell Blinds' He must have gone to Australia after 1939

I know 100% from my mum he went to Australia and stayed there apart from a couple of visits back to the UK.

The chap with the Blinds in 1939 was a married man, and it is he whose widow (Maud Rose) handled his probate as per my reading of the probate index

William BAGNELL born Islington and aged 22 years 2 months enlisted at London in May 1915.  His enlistment record shows his wife as Maud Rosina MEDHURST, married in 1914.  He had previously been in the navy and deserted in 1912.

1939
William and Maud's household included Ellen PATTERSON, a female, born 27 Nov 1858, a Widow, Old Age Pensioner.

William's dob on that 1939 document has his dob as 8 April 1893 and Maud's as 8 Nov 1895.  Some of the others in the household are dedacted.

I am convinced that Debra and I are posting about the same man

I have not found any hints that he ever resided in Australia.   What was the surname for his sister who travelled to Australia to handle Probate here.   I am aware that the concept of each Probate court handling their section of a Probate and then sealing it and forwarding to the next court is of very long standing,  across jurisdictions in various nations.  There would not be any need for a person to actually travel from UK to any of the states in Australia to handle a Probate matter.

Sorry, but I have not found where  a Mrs Elizabeth RAYBOULD travelled to Australia ...

Thank you JM,

I believe you may have found Ellen Jackson/Bagnell, its a long shot... her daughters didn't know where she had moved too. Just need to find out where the name Patterson came from.
