Gadget,
Thanks again.
Found out today there is a Corbett one name society.
There is quite a lot on the internet about the Corbet/Corbett family.
I am going to try and put together a wider tree rather than just a line of direct ancestors. Since I studied anthropology, as part of my degree, I am interested in family dynamics.
What do you think?

It is a good idea to look at collateral lines as well as your direct ancestors. This gives a much better insight into their lives. You might also want to think about taking an autosomal DNA test to add biological evidence to support the paper trail tree that you are going to build.

Good idea.  I try to find all the collaterals   :)

A long time ago, I studied  social  anthroplogy as my main subject at LSE. I had Lucy Mair and Robin Fox as tutors! I moved on to health research.

An interesting place to visit is Moreton Corbet, 10 miles from Eyton.

The church is full of Corbet memorials. They may be linked to Corbets in the surrounding areas but no proof.

Some are described here - http://www.rootschat.com/links/01oiy/

and plenty of pictures here - http://www.rootschat.com/links/01oix/

Thank you all for your help and comments.

Gadget,
I took Anthropology and Archaeology much to the amusement of one of my mates (always the joker) who said if I became an archaeologist my career would be in ruins  ;D. I need a Masters so I'm checking out my options.

Hi Corryn,
A belated welcome to rootschat.

Thomas and Margaret, your 6xg/grandparents are also my 4xg/grandparents.
I see that you have already had some very useful help and tips.
I have built up a large data base of Corbet/t family members, not all of them fitted on to the tree as yet.
Be careful when looking at other peoples Corbet trees as some contain errors that simple mathematics would have shown to be wrong. One I looked had today had a Vincent  married to his mother and had his children born after his death.  ::)
Do take a trip to St. Bartholomew in Moreton Corbet remember to take a camera and notebook.
i will get back to you tomorrow with more information.

A Vincent related to Moreton family has a memorial in St Cadfan's Church, Tywyn, where there are several other family memorials.

Fisherman
So we are related  :D
I will be happy for any help. I'm new to this sort of research and more used to literally digging up the past.

Thanks for the links.
Looks like I've got to schedule in a trip to North Wales.

Thank you both

Hi Corryn,
All I have on the Worral line is what Gadget has already found for you.
i.e.  Margaret had a brother Daniel b 1726 Eyton who married Elizabeth Pixley in Eyton 1756.

Thomas Corbitt and Margaret had the following children (all born Wellington Shrop. spellings as recorded)
Elizabeth Corbitt 1759,  John Corbitt 1767,  Martha Corbett 1770, Sarah Corbet 1773-1851.
