Charles Isiah PEARCE (1828-1878) and family
« on: Saturday 19 October 19 08:03 BST (UK) »
Charles was a farmer of  Pontnewynydd, Trevethin, Pontypool in 1871 having moved with his wife and family from Wiltshire in the early 1860s.
He died in Abergavenney lunatic asylum in 1878, his wife Eliza having died on 24 Dec 1876 in Pontnewynydd
While their eldest daughter married and died in the area I cannot locate their other 7 children after the 1871 census. Any help would be appreciated. All bar Eliza are with their parents in 1871

ii. Harry born Q4 1851 Westbury
iii. Eliza, born Q2 1853 Warminster
iv William born Q4 1854 Warminster
v Julia Emily  born Q2 1857 Warminster
vi John born Q3 1859 Warminster
vii Louisa born Q1 1864 Warminster
viii Constance Annie Q2 1868 Pontypool

Thanks

That certainly looks like Constance in 1881 and it seems logical

That could be Louisa in Hackney

Hi I possibly think Constance married a John Budding 18th October 1896 Trevethin, banns as Constance Pierce but marriage Annie Pearce.
1901 census as Annie Budding RG13/4932/33/7

Keyboard86

EDIT Did Julia also use her middle name, as an Annie Pearce  22 is shown as Sister in Law to a Robert 38 & Emily Williams 33
Census ref RG12/4349/71/38

Odd, a marriage of a Robert Williams to an Emily JANE Pearce 24th May 1880 Llanfoist her father being a Charles occ Labourer?
Her mark/signature on original looks more like Emily Julia Pearce?

1881 census Emily Williams 24 b Warminster at 18, Morgan Street Llanover with Robert Williams occ Gas Fitter and new born son William H 0
Census ref RG11/5237/97/61
Pelly/Pelley/Kingsbury/Challis/Nalder/Rochester/Raydenbow

That looks have solved the mystery of what became of two of the sisters.  The death of Annie Budding agrees with Constance's age and the birth place of Emily (Julia) is fairly indicative of this being the right person.

Thanks

Using that logic I looked for Louisa Kate as Kate and forum her marrying Joseph Shortman in 1880 with the 1881 census showing then in Trevithin with her born Warminster 18633

Using that logic I looked for Louisa Kate as Kate and forum her marrying Joseph Shortman in 1880 with the 1881 census showing then in Trevithin with her born Warminster 1863

for info here's the 1880 marriage detail

Marriage 22 Dec 1880 Parish Church Llanhilleth
Joseph SHORTMAN f/a occ Haulier father Joseph occ Haulier
Kate PIERCE f/a NO father named
Both single, made their mark (x) and residence Llanilleth
Witnessed by John Morrell & Eliza Morrell

I did wonder if Eliza might be Kate's married sister but looking at the 1881c census there's a couple
