That's a tough one,isn't it.

What about

Sanford    Ellen Elizabeth        Headington    3a   479.

I think Headington is the correct reg district.

Added. Ellen Sanford dau of Rebecca Sanford, single woman baptised privately 23 Sept 1857.

There's also:
GRO BIRTHS:
BANWELL, ANN      mmn   SANFORD
 1859  S Quarter in HEADINGTON  Volume 03A  Page 488

They (Rebecca and Ann)seem to appear as LANFORD (Ancestry) 1861:
 878/ 72/23

and as BANWELL (Ancestry) 1871:
  1423/ 36/  12

Just  keep on going through the different census years-Reb: born ~ 1837 Maids Moreton.

Marriage    21 Jul 1823
Cuddesdon

It might. Congreve’s mother Mary died in 1841, at her son’s residence (chilton park) mother of Mrs H Smith ‘of this town’ which was Oxford

This was Charlotte Congreve, husband was Harry/Henry Smith.

Also, who was Rebecca Cowley Banwell who died in 1913?   I had thought she was Rebecca née MONGER,  but I don’t think it is.  There was a Rebecca Cowley Sanford but haven’t been able to follow her forward yet.

Could she be the Rebecca who witnessed the marriage?

I’ve got to work today so hope by the time I get home tonight someone has solved that!!

Rebecca Cowley is the daughter of Ann Sanford, and from 1851 granddaughter of Richard Sanford. By 1861 she has her own daughter Ann, and in 1871 they are both Banwells, and Rebecca is a widow, but not found a marriage yet

Rebecca married to COngreve (both b c1837) is however b Dover. Both Rebeccas appear on many censuses, so clearly different people

EDIT: I've just realised MaureeninNY had already posted the birth reg. of Ann Banwell and census records, sorry.

Daughter Ann looks like she has mmn Sanford. Her age does fluctuate a bit on census' though so it's possible that birth reg. isn't the one. I couldn't see a baptism for her.

There are a couple of newspaper items that appear to refer to Congreve's (born c1810) burial. One of which refers to a Mrs Banwell. Given that wife Camilla died in 1855, it begs the question, who is this Mrs Banwell. I can't see an obvious candidate on the 1871 census, apart from Rebecca.

Thank you all so much! I'm in awe of your detective skills!
I know we're making assumptions, but I'm pretty confident in most of the gaps. I've summarised as much as possible in a new version of my PostIt notes.
Thanks again :)

I must say, I do like the  post it note lay outs.

The RAPER name is actually ROPER

I think you should get Ann ROPER’s will (1892)
And also Rebecca Cowley BANWELL’s one (1913)
