Are you sure that it is Llangellan as the only one that I know is in Caernarvonshire.  Could it possibly be Llangollen or something similar?

I lived in the Oswestry area until the mid-1960s and parents lived there until the late 1990s.  I've not heard of it. I may have missed it.

Can you remember what part of Oswestry you might have visited?

Add- I'm sure it would be Llan and not Cllan. The Cllan might be how it might be thought of being pronounced.

could it be llan y cefn Hall - this could sound similar to llanegellan ???

Any other information? Was this your aunts address? Was it a Hall or an area known as this? was it cottages/houses in the grounds of a hall?

Suz

The only problem with that, Suz,  is that Llan y Cefn Hall is in Overton:

It would be good if the OP could give more information.

Overton is a good way from Oswestry, Suz.

If you look at my reply#1. you'll see that I was born and brought up in the area. If it was in Overton, I wouldn't think it would be described as in Oswestry.

Maybe anneelaine, could say how she got there; was it in the town itself; where there black and white timber houses, was it near the station; did she go up a hill to a market cross?

I'm trying to describe some of the features that a 5 year old might remember.

I'm really struggling with the various map sites at the moment. My connections seems fine but it's taking ages to move around them  :-\

Thank you so much for your Help
I think it could be that name, it was a hall and my Aunt and uncles lived in it
but I was very young at the time All I can see is the large staircase
Is the hall still there?
MY brother is in Australia  He may know a little more than me, he is 10 years older, I will be seeing him in a month,
I am now starting to do the family tree
thanks so much.
ps  (Oswestry.) my mum may have said  Oswestry. Road and also Wrexham I think I heard but  I did not know why.
