''Marks'' family Cilrhedyn & Llanelli
« on: Tuesday 29 October 19 09:07 GMT (UK) »
Looking for more information regarding the ''Marks'' family from Cilrhedyn and Llanelli

I have traced a big proportion of the family and have got back to....
''Thomas Marks'' 1800-1880 - Spouse ''Elizabeth Williams ? (no dob or death)
siblings =
James Marks 1861-1911
Elizabeth Marks abt1830-
John Marks abt1835-
Mary Marks abt1835-
Sarah Marks abt1835-
William Marks abt1836-
Hannah Marks abt1838-
David Marks abt1845-
Margaret Marks abt1849-
Jane Marks abt1855-
Elinor Marks abt1869-1869

Wondered if anyone has any more information on anything further back or any death records for any of the siblings above ?

Im pretty new to this and don't have any access to much information as I have no subscription to my ancestry account or my heritage accounts as of yet

Any help would be appreciated

Hello,

Have you tried Familysearch.Org and GRO, free sites but you have to register.

Familysearch has Census info and the GRO has Birth Reg with Mothers maiden name from Sept 1837..

www.gro.gov.uk
www.familysearch.Org

After you have found them on Census you can look at FreeBMD for possible Marriages for the Children.

I will have a quick look and see what I can find for you.

Trish :)

I can see a Thomas Marks, born 1800, Cilrhedyn, on the '51, '61 and '71 Census, address Danygraig, Newcastle Emlyn.

However, his wife is a Charlotte, born 1810, Penboyr.

Where did you get the information re. a marriage to an Elizabeth Williams?

Thomas (1799-1880) and Charlotte (1810-93) Marks were my great great grandparents. Charlotte was from Penboyr. They lived first at Clun Yr Hwch, Cilrhedyn, then Danygraig, Meidrim. I have been unable to trace the parents of Thomas -  research gets difficult, maybe impossible, before 1800. They had 11 children including my great grandparent William.

Ah nice to meet you, yes they had a lot of children, the marks takes up the largest proportion of my grandmothers side of the family, we have visited cilrhedyn a long time ago to one of the burial sites of one of the marks family I’ll have to dig out the photos and Info
