As usual there is no name on the back of the photo so if someone could please put a date and an age it would help me identify her.

I am guessing Edwardian.   I am not good at ages of sitters - but she is quite young I think - 20s maybe?

Agree with Wiggy on the date.  I think she could be early 20s. She has a lovely face  :)

I was at an old homestead recently and someone was making lace like that - I wonder if hers was handmade for her.   8)

I've found a David Howie, photographer,  on the 1901 in Rothesay as a visitor.

39 Ardbeg Road, Rothesay
Robert Clow, mar, 38, florist, New Monkland
....
David Howie, visitor, mar, 34, Photographer, own act, b. Lanarkshire, Cadder
Janet Weir Howie, visitor, mar, 28, b. Ayrshire, St Quivox

Not found so far in Rothesay in 1911 so that might give you a broad dateline and fits with the  period suggested.

Thank you for all the suggestions everyone. I thought she may have been the girlfriend of a great uncle who died in ww1. If she is Edwardian and 20-ish that rules her out. The lace is very lovely and must have taken for ever to make by hand. I used to make hand made lace myself and it took hours to produce a few inches. Very lovely hobby though !   :) :) :) :)
