did any of the children marry? If so have you tried searching for them using their married surnames?
Long shot but its all I can think of.

Boo

They would'nt have been married in 1939.

Their married names would have been added later when the records were updated. I have tried everything I could think of but came up empty, unless they were in Scotland.

1939 electoral register. It's a different address to where Robert Baden Collyer was living in the 1939 register at 5 Baxendale St.

If you move Ion Square Gardens (green lettering) up to the top you can see Baxendale Street in the middle & Ravenscroft Street to the left.

Gladys Alice Collyer nee Rose (1902 - 1986) is my wife's grandmother and I'm struggling to find her on the 1939 Register, as she and three of her daughters are not at home in Baxendale Street, Bethnal Green.  Her husband, Robert Baden Collyer, was there, along with his mother in law, Emma Rose and a couple of Gladys's sisters and I think Gladys and the girls had gone away for safety.

I think the VRs would have been done at least a few months prior to print?

I think this shows Robert & Gladys had their own home with the children i.e. possibly Robert was only visiting his M-i-L on a night as the streets are close together, hardly any safer to leave 'home' with the children?
